Frequently Asked Questions

Does it matter that I've never played violin before?

Most parents that join the program have never even touched a violin before, just know that I created the lesson videos with you in mind. The lessons are nice a short, so you can first understand then teach each concept to your child at a steady pace.

How does the program work exactly?

Once you're signed up for your free 30-day trial, you'll get access to the membership site. On this site I've uploaded hundreds of lesson videos that take you from how to hold the violin to how to play music, plus printable resources, practice tips, play along tracks, and more! Each lesson goes for about 5-20 minutes and focuses on just one concept. As you teach each concept to your child, you can send in footage or pictures to receive feedback.

Where can I get a violin?

The first place to check out is your local Facebook marketplace! But before you do that, download our violin buying guide which has the proper measurements you'll need to take before searching for a violin, as well as all the info you'll need no matter where you live.

How do I cancel?

Decided it's not for you? No worries. Just email me at caitlin@caitlingraymusic.com and I'll cancel your membership right away.

What is the starting age?

The program has been created for parents of children ages 3-12.

How long does the program last?

Just like in-person lessons, learning and developing talent through the online Suzuki studio is on going. Most children spend about 1-2 years on Suzuki book 1 which covers all the basics.

How much does it cost?

There are 3 different priced memberships you can choose from.
  • Lessons Only - $7 Monthly: On a budget? No worries, for only $7 a month, you'll have access to the video lessons only. You may like this option if you want to just try it out for a few months before upgrading. With the lessons only package, you won't receive feedback for your child's progress. If you're already receiving lessons from an accredited Suzuki teacher, this will compliment that well.
  • Lessons + Public Feedback - $27 Monthly: This package gives you access to the lesson videos and the facebook support group. Here you can upload footage/pictures/questions any time to get instant feedback and support. Here I also upload weekly live lessons and suzuki theory lectures.
  • Lessons + Private Feedback- $47 Monthly: If you'd rather not share footage/pictures of your child on facebook, you can instead email content to us directly to receive feedback. You'll still have access to the group so can benefit from the other content that is uploaded there but you don't have to use it.

I'm pretty busy, can my child do this by themselves?

If your child is over the age of 12, they'd probably be able to learn and practice by themselves. If they're younger than 12, having a parent part of the learning journey will help their progress.
